I’m going to do a similar route tomorrow (Sunday) but going from avoca to woodenbridge instead of the meetings, if the legs co-operate after my run today :) and then back from Rathdrum. 75k ish if anyone wants to join us. Meeting at Mount Usher in Ashford at 10am.

Evening all
Saturday spins Groups 1 - 5

Group - New 2 Tri -- leader Garry
For the benefit of those new to the club, the route is typically as follows
figure of 8 loop, with escape points

Group 2 [ Group 3 can follow this route or if needing a longer spin refer to Group 4 route ]
This spin is only 63km long, but includes an ascent of shay Elliott climb going North, which will entail circa 20 mins of hard climbing
Ashford, Rathdrum, into Rathdrum Village at cross roads and next turn left in the Square heading up to the hospital then veer left out the Greenan road
In Greenan village, turn right into Glenmalure and proceed to the hotel before turning right for the Shay Elliott climb
Descent to Laragh, and proceed to Roundwood - Through the village and take the next right 4km beyond the village
At the next T junction after the reservoir, turn right and then descend the hill about 2km, taking the next left [ Ballintemple]
Proceed to Ashford via Ballyduff cross roads / Killiskey

Group 4 [ Optional for Group 3 ] Approx 75km long
Similar route to that of Group 2 / 3 but adding an additional few KMs at Roundwood [ not detailed on Map ]

Take a left just after Roundwood and proceed toward Ballinastoe forest - riding through staggered cross roads en-route to forest
Take the next right after Ballinastoe forest - this road leads back to The Calary - Roundwood road coming out at the Djouce golf club
Turn right toward Roundwood and next left over the reservoir approx 1km down the road

At the next T junction after the reservoir, turn right and then descend the hill about 2km, taking the next left [ Ballintemple]
Proceed to Ashford via Ballyduff cross roads / Killiskey
At Roundwood, take the left just after the village heading toward Ballinastoe Forest
Proceed

Double Gap spin [ by request from the budding Ironmen / women ] 116km long
This should certainly be of benefit to those riding half / Full IM races this summer

Ashford - Wicklow - Jack Whites
Cross under M11 then left.
Straight to next junction then right to next T junction
Right at T junction dropping down to Redcross
Left in the village over the hill to Avoca
Right in Avoca to The Meetings.
Left just past The Meetings to Ballinaclash
Over the bridge in Ballinaclash and right to Greenan
Right over the bridge then left up Baby Shay
Straight over the hill dropping down to Vale of Clara.
Left towards Laragh
Before Laragh turn right over Bookies Bridge then up to Spaghetti junction.
Right here to Rathdrum - Glenealy and home.

Group 3 and 2 long - Leaders Colm - John 68km
Ashford - Wicklow - Jack Whites
Cross under M11 then left.
Straight to next junction then right to next T junction
Right at T junction dropping down to Redcross
Left in the village over the hill to Avoca
Right in Avoca to The Meetings. (shorter route can head back through Rathdrum from here)
Left just past The Meetings to Ballinaclash
Over the bridge in Ballinaclash and right to Greenan
Over the bridge in Greenan keeping right then straight up to Rathdrum
Then back home through Glenealy .

Group 2 - 3 [ 72km ]
Ashford-Milltown Lane-Glenealy, right at railway bridge up hill to Spaghetti Junction - [ right + immediate left ] proceed toward Laragh
Take next left descending the hill toward Clara Church - cross bridge and up a very short steep hill to come onto the Laragh / Rathdrum road
Right, then at 100M turn left up a well surfaced road and follow this road to Greenan
Over the bridge at Greenan - left to Ballinaclash at Clash over the bridge and immediate right toward the Meetings - onto Avoca
Into Avoca and follow the road to Arklow [ over Shelton ]
Up the coast road and left at McDaniels - follow the same road all the way Dunganstown then Beehive / Wicklow road
Return to Ashford

Over the bridge at Greenan - left to Ballinaclash at Clash over the bridge and immediate right toward the Meetings - onto Avoca
Into Avoca and follow the road to Arklow [ over Shelton ]
Up the coast road and left at McDaniels - follow the same road all the way Dunganstown then Beehive / Wicklow road
Return to Ashford
