The reschuduled 'John Darcy Classic Time Trial' will take place this Saturday October 6th. This year, it'll be starting at the earlier time of 9am (to avoid traffic), so arrive before 8:45am for sign-on. Please note that there will be no other official club spin organised for this week, other than the New 2 Tri spin.
For those who haven't done it before, participants set off 1 minute apart (slowest person first), for a 67km Bike Time Trial. The route travels north from the school in Ashford, via Coynes Cross, the N11, turn left in Kilmacanogue up The Long Hill, Roundwood, Annamoe, Laragh, Rathdrum, Glenealy, Mill Lane, Ashford (finishing at Ballinalea Bus stop, just before Mt Usher)
Prizes will be awarded to the fastest male & female at the club awards' night in November.
If some of you would prefer to ride the route in a group, that's no problem. The downside is that you won't qualify for a prize, however on the plus side you'll be able to share the workload at the front if it's a windy day.
It's a great training event, so we hope that as many of you as possible will give it a go.
Please add your name here if you plan to take part. We'll also need 2 volunteers for timekeeping.
Ok, change of plan. We've just heard that there are roadworks on the course route, with a traffic light stop/go system in place. Apparently they're going to be there for the next 4 months, so unfortunately this means we'll have to cancel the TT for 2018 Edwina & Joe will just have to mind the trophies for another year.
